Tree O' Clock: Be a part of it and muck in!

Typical!  As soon as I plant three tree's a campaign comes along urging us to plant more.

But seriously, a great campaign, 'Tree O' Clock', has been launched by BBC Breathing Spaces asking you to plant a tree on the 5th December 2009 between 11:00am and 12:00 noon in an effort to achieve a new world record.  A great idea to unite communities and add a touch of greenery to our suuroundings, let alone increase our green credentials.

I have been meaning to help a friend plant a few trees in her wood and 'Tree O' Clock' should be perfect!  Prepare to plant everyone!

Will you be joining in? Do you have any events planned?

  1. We've got quite a few trees to contend with at Tumbledown already, some of which I am very fond of. I'm not sure we could shoe horn in another one, although I did fall in love with the candy floss smelling Cercidiphyllum japonicum at Westonbirt Arboretum last month. This might be just the excuse I needed to get one!

    RO :o)

  2. No events planned this year Ryan, but I used to organise tree planting weekends in South Wales coinciding with National Tree Week, where we'd plant 1,000 trees on mine spoil heaps near Big Pit as part of a research project looking at soil generation. I even have a patch of Welsh hillside named after me as a result!

  3. Yes I picked mine up from Dobbies and its a Rowan tree. Looking forward to planting it on Saturday - I hope the ground isn't frozen tho........ minus 7 this morning
